| Additional Notes |
This tender was initially built as a Johnson 4100 gallon bogie tender in 1902 or 1903. In 1909 the 4100 gallon tank was transferred to a new Deeley 3 axle chassis. The Johnson tank was replaced with a Fowler 3500 gallon in 1933. Thus none of the original bogie tender survives in the current version.
Post 1933 it was fitted with a water scoop according to the LMS tender record card. However this seems to have been removed while still in service as their is no dome behind the coal space to accommodate the top of the water pick up tube. It was used with three different SDJR 7F 2-8-0s from June 1956 finishing with 53808 and as these locos had no need for a water scoop fitted tender it may have been removed at some date from 1956 onwards.
It is intended to replace the tank during the current overhaul. Watercress Line News no. 191 Winter 2025-2026 reported that the tender has now been dismantled for overhaul.
