| Additional Notes |
Chassis is from an Ivatt 3000 gallon tender. This arrived at Woodham Bros, Barry behind LMS Ivatt 2MT number 46428. The last tender shown as allocated to this loco by BR records is LMS number 7028. After purchase for use with 78018 the Ivatt tank was removed and a new tank, built to the BR3 pattern but of welded construction with dummy rivets, was fitted circa 1992. The Ivatt tenders had plain axle bearings while the BR3 was fitted with roller bearings. This tender retains plain bearings though the axlebox covers have been changed to give the appearance of roller bearing axleboxes. The tender carries the number 1092 which was the number of the BR3 tender that was first coupled to 78018 when built. The number plate was not fitted until Summer 2020. |
