The C2 class 0-8-0 is based on a Russian design and was constructed in large quantities in China from circa 1958-1988. This example was built for the 2'6" gauge Dahuichang Limestone Railway. As built the water capacity was 5200 litres, coal 2 tonnes and closely matches the original Russian design.
Imported into the UK in 2006. The original tank has been removed and is been replaced with a new design, the original frames were kept. The tender was Harbin Forest and Machinery works number 221.
At present the chassis has been restored (completed circa summer 2023) and has been hauled on the Ffestiniog Railway with a wooden mock up of the tank fitted to check infrastructure clearances.
