Arrived at Woodham Bros, Barry with 4936 GWR Hall class 4-6-0 and left with this loco for preservation in 1981. Relatively little work done on the tender and 4936 was eventually returned to steam with another tender (see entry for GWR Collett 4000 gallon tender no.2756). The tender passed to the care of 6880 Betton Grange (Society) Ltd circa 2003 and the tank was removed sometime between August and December 2003.Two of the wheelsets may have been sold in 1998, certainly by the end of 2003 the tender had no wheelsets. Work was done on the chassis but had stopped by 2008. Subsequently the Betton Grange Society have acquired two other Collett 4000 gallon tenders. One is a bare chassis and the other came with the purchase of 5952 GWR Hall class 4-6-0. There do not seem to be any plans to restore the tender chassis from 4936 at present. |
