The original identity of 2745 is based on this number having been found stamped on various parts of the tender. This tender was kept at Swindon Works as an oil carrier until the early 1980's before being sold for preservation. Tank has not been replaced since preservation. It ran for many years with 7802 GWR Manor class 4-6-0. When 7802 returned to service in 2025 after overhaul it was coupled to GWR Churchward 3500 gallon tender no. 2355 which normally runs with 2857, GWR 28XX class 2-8-0. Eventually 7802 will run with a new Churchward 3500 gallon tender (see tender number 2329). |
