Additional Notes This tender was built as a BR1C (4725 gallons water, 9 tons of coal). After restoration it was plated as a BR1E (4725 gallons of water, 10 tons of coal) though coal capacity remains at 9 tons. In the late 1990's extra water capacity was provided by providing a tank above the filler cap. A coal pusher has also been fitted, the original tenders that ran with 71000 had this feature but the current tender was not fitted with one during its time in BR service. The tender arrived at Woodham's scrapyard at Barry coupled to BR 9F class no. 92134. BR records are ambiguous regarding the actual number of the tender allocated to 92134 when it was withdrawn and sent to Woodham's. 1271 is the number of one of the two tenders that 71000 ran with in BR service (both now scrapped).
