Notes Noted in internal use at Darlington in 1974 and 1980 but moved to Thornaby by 1982 where it remained until 1991. May have then moved to Doncaster Works and then purchased at an unknown date and moved to a scrapyard at Balby Road, Doncaster for preservation. At some date before June 2008 the tank was removed and remained at Balby Road while the chassis was transferred to the Scottish Railway Preservation Society site at Boness. Subsequently the tank from 041249 was put on another LNER 4200 gallon group standard chassis that was also at Balby Road, this latter chassis had been previously been a sludge carrier at Tinsley but was never given a departmental or internal user number. The chassis from 041249 at Boness was sold circa mid 2017 to the owner of LNER B1 class 4-6-0 no 61306. When 61306 was resold to Locomotive Services of Crewe it is thought that the chassis was included in the sale but at present the exact ownership of this chassis is unknown though it remains at Boness. The later history of the original tank of 041249 is included in the record for 4166 LNER Group Standard 4200 gallon tender. The bottom picture shows the tender in internal user service.
