Notes The chassis from this tender was built with a 4200 gallon tank with a flared coping. Its full history with British Railways is not known, but by early 1976 it was definitely at Tinsley TMD, where it was used as a sludge tank and it was still there in 1990. Possibly moved to Doncaster Works at some stage after this and eventually purchased at an unknown date and moved to a scrapyard at Balby Road, Doncaster for preservation. At an unknown date while at Balby Road the tank was removed (and presumed scrapped) and the tank from tender 041249 was placed on the chassis though these two events may not have happened at the same time. The tank from 041249 had certainly been removed prior to June 2008 and there is some evidence to suggest it may not have been put on the chassis of the Tinsley tender until circa 2010 but this is by no means definite. The earliest confirmed date when the tank from 041249 is on the Tinsley chassis is 8/2/2013 but it was probably long before this date. The combination of the Tinsley chassis and tank from 041249 was sold to the NBL Preservation Group and moved to the Mizens Railway near Woking in April 2013 for display with a non working replica of LNER B17 class no 61662. It was then passed to B17 Steam Locomotive Trust, the exact date is not known but it was announced by the Trust in November 2020. The tank and chassis were moved to CTL Seal, Sheffield for storage at an unknown date. The tank of 041249 was found to have the number 4166 chalked on the back when it was collected from Balby Road in April 2013 and this number is now being used by the B17 Steam Locomotive Trust to identify the combination of the Tinsley chassis and 041249 tank. Bottom picture shows the frames with the original tank.
