Notes | Last coupled to NBR class H 4-4-2 no. 875 (later LNER C11 class no 9875). Withdrawn from mainline use in 1939. Possibly used for water storage during World War Two. Then taken into departmental service, original tank removed and replaced with a cylindrical tank and numbered 961880. Used as storage tanker for early LNER diesel shunters at Whitemoor Yard. Later numbered 041957 in the internal user series. At present it still retains this tank. It is likely to be restored in its present condition as a relic of the LNER dieselisation policy. |
