Notes | The 2640 gallon tender was introduced on the GER by J. Holden but initially the design continued to use the earlier Worsdell chassis design. Later 2640 gallon tenders had a Holden chassis. During the last overhaul completed in 2014 the tender was turned out in original GER condition including removal of the coal fenders and the addition of safety chains on the rear buffer beam. The photos show the tender before this work was carried out. When purchased for preservation the tender numberplate had already been removed so the original identity is not confirmed though the last known tender with 65464 was number 7543. Yeadon's Register of LNER Locomotives Appendix 2 says that GER tenders carried the same number as the engine with the year in which the tender was built cast on the plate. The current numberplate attached is not the correct identity for this tender but is representational of the locomotives appearence in GER ownership. |
